The last week and a half the weather in Aruba has been relatively unstable. Due to disruption of the regular weather pattern because of a tropical wave, it has been raining unpredictably during the above mentioned period. The rain showers have been typically brief and during the early hours of the morning. During the day time the showers have been minimal.

Meanwhile tropical storm Bertha continues on a very slow path hovering near the island of Bermuda, off the coast of continental US. Bertha is currently at wind speeds just under hurricane category status and isn’t expected to cause major damage in Bermuda other than rain. Storm Bertha was the first major storm of the 2008 Hurricane Season and hasn’t had any significance for Aruba.

On a related note there a system is developing in the Atlantic that could become a storm by Tuesday. The National Hurricane Center in Miami is expects this storm to gather momentum and move West-Northwestward at a speed of 15 miles per hours. If this storm continues its current path, it will have little effect on Aruba’s weather. Then again it’s way too early to speculate.
