Some floods in Oranjestad

As Hurricane Omar strengthens, it’s pulling away from the Southern Caribbean and it’s headed north. This storm was a very strange one. For starters it formed in the south and it kept hovering around. Now its headed to the north east.

Meanwhile in Aruba it’s still raining on and off. The aftermath of the rain is visible with floods in many areas of the island. No injuries have been reported because of the storm. Traffic is moving slowly and international air travel has been disrupted from many cities. Only JetBlue from JFK, US Airways from Charlotte and American from Miami. All other flights from North America have been canceled. For detailed and updated information please visit Aruba’s airport site.

I took several pictures during the course of Wednesday morning. I noticed how the beaches where eroded and a lot of seaweed was washed ashore while several palapas were knocked over as well. Please view the photographs below.
