Tropical storms Ana and Claudette aren’t a threat anymore. For now. From what I understand it dumped a considerable amount of rain, but no major damage is reported. Meanwhile Tropical storm Bill has been upgrade to a category two hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Hurricane Bill is a dangerous hurricane with sustained winds of nearly 160 kph (100 mph) according to the National Hurricane Center. If Bill continues on its current path, it’s not expected to threaten the Caribbean islands. However, the island of Bermuda has to be vigilant with this storm for the coming days.

Hurricane Bill posses no threat whatsoever to the island of Aruba. Currently the distance between Hurricane Bill and Aruba is at almost 2400 km (1500 miles). If this storm continues its current path, Aruba won’t be affected by it. Meanwhile, if you wonder about the recent history of Aruba and hurricanes I suggest reading about how common hurricanes are in Aruba.

Update 2: National Hurricane Center has just upgraded Hurricane Bill to a Category 3 storm. Bill has become a major storm with speeds up to 205 kph (125 mph). At this point Bill isn’t expected to hit either the Caribbean or the continental US. Bermuda should remain vigilant.

Update 3: Hurricane Bill gained strength overnight and is now a Category 4 storm with winds up to 135 mph. This massive storm is not expected to pass over any Caribbean territory directly if it continues on its current path. However, this storm is large enough to bring rain over some islands. Bermuda should remain vigilant.

Update 4: As of Friday Hurricane Bill continues as a Category 3 storm, headed just west of Bermuda. Seemingly, the center of the storm won’t have a direct hit on Bermuda. The storm will pas near the island, thus might bring a thunder storms and major swells. When a territory is to the right of a storm it’s considered to be “the bad side” in terms of unstable weather.
