National Hurricane Center in Miami issued a tropical storm watch for the ABC-islands tonight. It seems like this storm is going to brush Aruba for a few hours this weekend. According to the hurricane center we can expect 1 to 3 inches of precipitation this weekend. This will certainly crank up our yearly average of 16 inches a year.

National Hurricane Center: “a tropical storm watch remains in effect for the northern coast of Venezuela from Cumana to Pedernales including the island of Margarita…and for islands of Aruba…Bonaire and Curacao”.

This depression is moving towards the west at a speed of 15 mph and has winds of 35 mph. Remember that Aruba’s trade winds are average 20 mph with sometimes wind gusts up to 35 to 40 mph.

It seems like this system has a similar path as hurricane Dean had last week, this one is a bit more southern. If it becomes a tropical storm it is going to carry the name Felix.
