Presidents Day In Aruba

19 Feb 2008 leave comment 141 words

Presidents Day was celebrated throughout United States yesterday. For the ones who don’t live in the US or don’t know, this American national holiday started in 1880 as a celebration in honor of the birth date of America’s first President, George Washington.

As the time passed and due to commercial interest the holiday was changed to the third Monday in February. It is common nowadays that some sectors get the whole week off, such as schools. This holiday is also known as mid-winter break.

On several occasions I’ve suggested that the cheapest time of year to come to Aruba is in September. Well, now the most expensive week of the year to travel to Aruba is Presidents Week. Perhaps this week should get a different label: high season plus. Despite the prices, last weekend’s flights were full and hotels seem full as well.

Now what?
