Palm Beach Plaza Lacks Foot Traffic

Palm Beach Plaza

Palm Beach Plaza shopping center has been open for some time now. The facilities there are impeccable and of high quality. The stores are diverse, thus offering many new things, previously unknown to Aruba, such as a food court.

Not all stores are operational, however. Some businesses need to open to further enhance the overall service level at this mall. Specifically the entertainment venues have yet to open. Places such as the bowling alley, game room, kids corner, rock climbing area and movie theater.

My preliminary observation about this mall is that it lacks the necessary foot traffic in order to make the place come to live. Not to mention to create the much needed revenue for the tenants. I’m sure the drop in Venezuelan tourism [which are the biggest consumers of retail among all tourists] might hurt the shops. Yet, I’m bullish about this development and expect it to flourish down the road and become a major player. Again, a big plus is that it brings new things to the island.
