Marriott Contributes To Higher Education
Marriott Vacation Club International is Marriott’s timeshare company. In Aruba Marriott Vacation Club operates timeshare resorts Marriott’s Ocean Club and Marriott’s Surf Club. Reportedly Marriott’s timeshares in Aruba belongs to one of the best selling within the whole company.
Last week Marriott Vacation Club International donated US$ 1 million to the University of Aruba. According to the university’s president the donation is going to be used for the enhancement of the Center for Research and Development at the Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Management Studies.
The donation stems from a deal struck between the government and Marriott at the time of negotiations to start constructing Marriott’s Surf Club. Originally Marriott was supposed to donate that money in the course of twenty years, however the president of University of Aruba asked to receive the funds earlier in order to accelerate the development in the before mentioned center for research.
