Several storms are forming [image by NOAA (edited)]

Just a few days ago I wrote about the weather, in particular about the hurricanes and Aruba. I wasn’t planning on writing one for several days, however, after seeing above image, and the fact that this site has been bombarded with search requests about hurricanes and Aruba, I thought I’d write another update on this topic.

For the people who don’t know, Aruba is highly unlikely to be hit by hurricanes. Our recent - and not so recent - history shows very little hurricanes activity. Therefore many tourist publications about Aruba state that this island lies outside the so-called “hurricane-belt” and “doesn’t get any rain” (Aruba receives average almost 16 inches of rain a year).

I, on the other hand, am much more cautious with those kinds of statements. I never could discover that so-called “hurricane-belt” anywhere. For this reason, I prefer: “Aruba lies south of the hurricane zone”. Mother Nature is unpredictable. We need to be cautious. After seeing the devastation a hurricane can do, we are truly lucky here in the Southern Caribbean. For additional information about the relationship of Aruba with hurricanes, I wrote an interesting article last year titled: How Common Are Hurricanes In Aruba? Lastly I would like to wish good luck to all who are affected by these weather phenomenons.
