I’m back!

Ladies and gentlemen it’s my pleasure to announce that I’m back. After an leave of absence of 5 months and 2,5 weeks, I’m back in the saddle, just like CB suggested to me some time ago. Obviously I owe you an apology and explanation.
The apology first. I’m sorry for not updating for so long. Especially to the avid readers I have that I didn’t know I had. Nevertheless, I appreciate all the email of support – and concern – I’ve received from many all over the world. I’ve maintained contact through email and comments though.
Without sounding lame or being a cliche, I’ve been busy. Really. I’ve launched my own company last year and I’ve been working hard on that. When you have a new business, it’s like having a baby. It takes a lot of time. I’m a Web 2.0 kind of guy, so I’m online most of the time, with most of my projects. Naturally, this also requires a lot of personal contact.
Certainly a lot has happened in my absence. Since, the island has a new government, Thanksgiving came and went, Christmas came and went, New Years came and went and Aruba Carnival came and went. Currently there are many things ongoing, exciting things I might add. The next couple of days I will address many issues.
As you can see there is a new design here as well. We’ve made things better by toning down the site a bit, making it lighter and faster. A brand new logo as well. Just trying to build and enforce a brand. Now the content is going to pop out better. Noise upstairs, business downstairs. We’re still tweaking some things, so in case you see something funky, it will be corrected withing the next days.
I’m expanding my presence a little in the social scene as well. I’m on Twitter at twitter.com/arubabeaches and you can follow me there for last minute updates. I do that mostly from my phone on the go. You can see the updates in the sidebar of this website as well.
In terms of the direction of this site, I’m going to keep writing about same as in the past. There will be two differences. I won’t write much about the weather anymore, instead I’ll write about weather on my twitter stream. The other difference is that I might lower the writing frequency a bit. The tone will remain overly positive as I believe in positivism, but once in a while I’ll introduce a snarky opinion when necessary. The size of the articles will remain three-paragraph, as that seems to work best.
I’m happy to learn that the traffic of this website remained steady, and even went up the last few weeks. I understand that there aren’t many sites like this on the island. Since 2007. That’s awesome.
I’m back. Again. Yes, really
Welcome Back
Thanks mate. It's nice to be back.
