Gol Airlines Expanding Aruba Service

Some month ago Brazilian low cost carrier Gol Airlines received approval to switch the charter service Sao Paulo-Caracas-Aruba to a scheduled service. Added advantage to Gol is that they can also sell tickets on the route Caracas-Aruba, thus breaking the monopoly of Venezuelan airlines form Caracas to the island.

Currently Gol Airlines offers two weekly services from Brazil using their Varig brand: Brasilia-Curacao-Aruba and Sao Paulo-Caracas-Aruba. The Varig flights are serviced with a new Boeing 737-800 which also features a comfort class.

Gol Airlines has shown repeated interest into Caribbean expansion. It’s a fairly untapped market for many South American Airlines, especially the larger countries with a solid air industry and relatively big home market such as Brazil, Chile and Argentina.  There is only one slight problem: we speak several languages in Aruba, but Portuguese is not one of them. Maybe we should start.
