Copa Airlines starts flying to Aruba [image by copaair.com]
According to an aviation website Panamanian air carrier Copa Airlines plans to start a 4 weekly service to Aruba from Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport. According to the article this was confirmed on Saturday 12th of July to Aruba’s Ministry of Tourism. The service is expected to start on December 15th of this year.
Copa Airlines has a modern fleet of Boeing 737s and Embraer 190s. It wasn’t announced which type of aircraft Copa is planning to use on this service. I scoured Copa’s website for some sort of a press release, but didn’t come across one. Perhaps details are still being sorted out, such baggage handling or airport fees. As far I’m concerned this news isn’t confirmed just yet.
Should the news be confirmed, this would open new opportunities for tourists traveling from South and Central America and Mexico to this island. News like this is more than welcome in times where cutbacks are more frequent then new route announcements. If my memory isn’t failing me, this isn’t the first time Copa Airlines is flying to Aruba. In that case welcome back.

Hi there Julie, thank you for visiting. It is difficult to say if Copa is going to inaugurate the route AUA-PTY with promotional packages. Just like you there are many people I’ve been talking to who are exited about this new route.
It opens up many destination for us to Central America. I’ve learned that some local travel agencies are planning on offering packages to Panama and beyond.
If you would like to stay posted on any new specials visit Copa’s Web Fare section. I noticed that special prices to our neighboring countries range somewhere between $250 - $300 round trip from Panama City. I’m not sure about the regular prices.
