Today is going to be the busiest day in the year in terms of cruise ship visitors. There are 4 cruise ships scheduled in town today.

  • Capacity: 2020
  • In service since: 1990

Celebrity Cruises’ Galaxy

  • Time: 7.00 am – 7.30 pm [12,5 hours in town]
  • Capacity: 1894
  • In service since: 1996

Royal Caribbean’s Adventure Of The Seas

  • 8.00 am – 8.30 pm [12,5 hours in town]
  • Capacity: 3114
  • In service since: 2001

Holland America Line’s Volendam

  • 12.00 pm – 11.00 pm [11 hours in town]
  • Capacity: 1432
  • In service since: 1999

All ships together have the capacity to carry 8460 souls. The average amount of passenger that the cruise ship brought to Aruba last season was 1884 per ship (source: Central Bank Aruba), which means that if this year’s average is similar to last year’s there could be 7535 souls in town, which is a decent 89% occupancy rate for the ships.

Quick tip

Naturally not everyone is leaving the ship and browse around town, but the majority will. If you are staying at a resort I suggest avoiding downtown today. You have other days to choose to go to town. If you are a cruise ship passenger and don’t want to be where it’s busy, visit a quiet and accessible beach, like Druif Beach or Eagle Beach.
