Aruba Hyatt Rocks

Ruins of an ancient gold smelter at Bushiribana, on Aruba’s north-eastern shore
I witnessed a happening the other day that I really needed to write about. Many times the negative aspects of life get more publicity than the positive ones.
I came across a rather large team doing a massive clean up at historical Bushiribana gold ruins (1872). The team hired a bus to transport the crew members, rented a truck with heavy equipment including power tools, pressure washers, generator and ladders. The truck also carried its own water (there’s no running water along the coast).
Naturally I became curious. They weren’t part of any official island clean up crew. I approached them with curiosity and asked them who they were. They were from Aruba Hyatt Regency. Coast and beach clean up is something many organizations do, but I’ve never seen a crew that was so well equipped. The Gold Ruins was cleaned and washed. The graffiti was removed together with all other scratches and damages. Cigarette butts, bottle caps and beer bottles were picked up.
For the record, I want to emphasize that there are many organizations and companies that offer their time and money for social responsible community work, for that, I salute you. However, I will give a special shout out to Hyatt’s heavily equipped crew: ARUBA HYATT ROCKS!
