Another Aruba Hurricane Update

The – extreme – weather is currently headlines, for this reason I will continue to write about the storms. Aruba is in the Caribbean, therefore in the broad hot-zone. However, it’s highly unlikely for Aruba to get brushed by a hurricane, as the Southern Caribbean is generally secure.
Other areas aren’t so secure, especially the higher Antilles. On several occasions I’ve expressed my support for all the affected communities, just what I would like to do on this occasion. Killer Hurricane Ike has caused extensive damage in many island-nations and now is headed towards the coast of Texas, US.
I continue to receive many inquires about the impact of hurricanes on Aruba. Once more I would like to reiterate that Aruba is very lucky to be in a location that doesn’t receive hurricane threats frequently. The coast of South America works as shoulder of protection in case a storm does find its way down south. Fact remains that we are very vigilant when it comes to hurricane activity and I personally plan to keep an eye on the systems daily.
On a related note, recently I came across a pretty cool storm track website, Stormpulse. It’s filled with all sorts of information. Also historic data is available. It’s flash-heavy so you need a decent internet connection to enjoy its features fully.
